John F. O’Leary, U.S. Nuclear Energy Expert
John F. O’Leary, 61, who served in the Interior, Energy and Atomic Energy departments and the Bureau of Mines under Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon and Jimmy Carter. Most recently he was chairman of the General Public Utilities Corp., the company that runs the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Harrisburg, Pa. O’Leary was credited with playing a key role in guiding the company after the Three Mile Island accident and was seen on such television programs as “Good Morning America” and the “McNeil-Lehrer Report” as a commentator and expert on world energy matters. In Parsippany, N.J., on Saturday of cancer.
