Clippers Flattened on Road, 100-76

Michael Jordan scored 21 points in 27 minutes, and the Chicago Bulls held the Clippers to 55 points in the first three quarters Saturday night en route to a 100-76 victory. It was the 22nd consecutive road defeat for the Clippers.

Brad Sellers added 16 points and Sam Vincent 15 for the Bulls, while Mike Woodson had 21 for the Clippers, who lost their fourth straight and 28th in their last 32 games.

The Bulls’ victory enabled Chicago to stay a half-game ahead of fourth-place Milwaukee in the NBA’s Central Division.

The Clippers missed several easy layups, and starting forwards Michael Cage and Ken Norman were held to seven and two points, respectively.

Only Woodson and Benoit Benjamin, with 14 points, provided any offense for the Clippers, who were held to 15 points in the second quarter and were outscored 28-18 in the third quarter.

The Clippers, 5 for 25 in the second quarter, trailed, 52-37, at halftime.

“The play of Vincent cannot be minimized, because he has literally taken charge since I inserted him as a starting guard last Monday,” Bull Coach Doug Collins said.

Said Clipper Coach Gene Shue: “We simply don’t have the talent to compete in the NBA. This has been a real challenge for me even though we have some players hurt.

“But, even if we had everybody back, it would be a real struggle.

“We missed too many easy shots, which opened up the door for the Bulls. But then, we don’t have a lot of good players who can take high percentage shots.”
