Roundup : SCC Loses to Westmont, 100-86

A balanced scoring attack led Westmont College to a 100-86 victory over Southern California College Saturday night in the semifinals of the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics District 3 playoffs at Whittier College.

Westmont (22-8) had six players in double figures, led by John Anderson’s 16 points. Bryan Holt had 15 points, Chad Kmmerer 13, Mike Kelly 14, Curt Anders 10 and Dan Swanner 10. Anderson also had a game-high 14 rebounds.

Point guard Todd Dixon led SCC (18-14) with a career-high 37 points.

In the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Assn. Tournament:

Bay Ridge 92, Pacific Christian 90--Bay Ridge (19-4) held on for the victory when Pacific Christian’s Burton Lalk had a three-point shot attempt go in and come back out just before the final buzzer.

Pacific Christian (30-7) was down by as many as 19 points in the first half and came back to lead with 11 minutes remaining. But Pacific Christian could not hang on and found itself down by two with just six seconds left. Bay Ridge, of Kendleton, Tex., finishes in third place and Pacific Christian fourth.
