Rick Calloway said he was unfairly benched this season for not playing power forward up to Coach Bob Knight’s standards and feels he had to transfer from Indiana to earn a shot at the NBA.

Calloway told the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel that the schools he’s considering include Kansas, Maryland, Ohio State and Xavier in his hometown of Cincinnati.

Calloway, benched from his 2 1/2-year starting role midway through the season, didn’t leave his seat during the Hoosiers’ 72-69 first-round loss to Richmond in the NCAA tournament.

The 6-6 junior, who would have to sit out a season before playing for another school, said teammate Keith Smart’s pro stock dropped because of being benched at times during the second half of the season, and he didn’t want the same thing to happen to him.
