A 13-block chase by El Segundo police pursuing a suspected hit-and-run driver Monday morning ended with a wet officer and embarrassed suspect in custody. Officer Steve Overly was in pursuit of a pickup truck when his patrol car slid around a corner and crashed into a fire hydrant, sending a geyser of water into the air. Almost immediately afterward, the suspect, Robert Anthony Webber, 19, of Hawthorne, unwittingly turned into the police station’s parking lot in the 300 block of Standard Street, where he was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and reckless driving.
