Pan Am Corp. is seeking an Internal Revenue Service extension for its annual pension contribution due Sept. 15. In documents filed with the SEC, ailing New York-based Pan Am contends that a $73-million pension payment due then could leave it with limited financial resources to offset the slow fall and winter travel seasons.
