‘Kahane Effect’ in Israel
It was sad to learn (Part I, Oct. 13) that the Israeli government has added to its repressive techniques by threatening the Palestinians’ daily bread. The army threatens to keep Palestinian farmers’ produce off the market until it rots. The crime the Palestinians are punished for is their resolve to live in peace and independence in a homeland of their own.
The world, including conscientious Christians, Muslims, and Jews, sympathize with their cause, but America remains stifled by the mighty Zionist lobby.
As figs rot in Palestine so does the cause of human rights that America professes to pioneer. America’s selective blindness to human rights in this particular case is indeed cause for shame.
