Speaking Out on Orange County Elections : Reporting Protest at Cityhood Offices

Share

The Times’ reporting of an “angry mob storming Saddleback City headquarters” must have been written in jest. As one who, along with my four small children, watched Laguna Village residents peacefully protest the elimination of their voting rights on Measure R, Saddleback cityhood, while brandishing picket signs, I challenge anyone to call it harassment with a straight face.

If it had been the intent of these homeowners, accompanied by their children, to break any laws or threaten anyone, why were the three major newspapers called in advance to cover the demonstration?

If Measure R passes, the Saddleback government will undoubtedly be indebted to developers and special interest groups, turn a deaf ear to the sensitive needs of each community, and continue the cheap political tricks that have made the pro-city campaign infamous.
