Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Truck Driver Held After Rig Overturns

A truck driver from Orange was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving early Sunday after his rig overturned and dumped liquid asphalt, authorities said.

Larry Dean Collins, 35, escaped injury but was booked into the city jail, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. John Pherrin said.

Collins was attempting a U-turn on Canyon Drive south of Victoria Street just after 2 a.m. when the second trailer on his truck rig overturned, Pherrin said.

Cleanup crews were mopping up the asphalt Sunday morning, Pherrin said.
