Local News in Brief : 3 Teen-Agers Rescued from Ledge Unharmed
Three teen-agers were stranded for over an hour on a steep, rocky ledge near the Pacoima Wash in Sylmar on Sunday before being rescued by Los Angeles firefighters.
The two 18-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl became trapped on a ledge overlooking a 600-foot drop near Hubbard Street and Wallabi Avenue about 2:30 p.m. and were airlifted to safety about 3:45 p.m., said Jim Wells, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
Hoists were dropped from helicopters to lower firefighters to the ledge on which the youths were stranded, Wells said. The teen-agers, whose names were not available, were not injured, he said.
