Shot From Passing Car Kills Man in Pickup
A man was killed Sunday while riding in the back of a pickup truck on a residential street in Pacoima in what police suspect was a gang-related shooting.
The victim, believed to be 18 to 20 years old, died at Pacifica Hospital in Sun Valley shortly after the 6:40 p.m. shooting at Telfair Avenue and Goleta Street, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Al Yarbrough.
Police said the shot that struck the man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was fired from a tan Buick Regal heading in the opposite direction from the truck.
Yarbrough said that occupants of the Buick and the truck are suspected gang members.
