When NBC airs its 100th episode of “Hunter” Feb. 18, Mayor Tom Bradley will make an appearance as himself. The former 21-yearL.A. police department veteran and mayor of Los Angeles for 15 years was invited to appear after he expressed an interest in being involved with the show. Bradley will appear in a three-part episode about a criminal--whom Hunter (Fred Dryer) extradited to Texas 10 years ago--returns to Los Angeles and launches a crime spree. An added note: Although Bradley’s appearance isn’t a problem for the NBC network, local outlet KNBC-TV Channel 4 could face an equal-time challenge from whoever opposes Bradley in the April 11 mayoral election. Under the Federal Communications Commission’s equal time rule, stations that give or sell broadcast time to a candidate for public office are required to provide the same opportunity to other candidates. City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky is expected to run against Bradley, but he has not formally announced his candidacy.
