Richard Walker, an official at the San Francisco Opera, was approved Tuesday as the new director of the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra. The symphony’s board of directors unanimously approved Walker’s selection, and he will begin his new job on Feb. 15. The position had been vacant since July, when the former director, Ben Green, resigned. Walker is currently business manager and director of planning at the San Francisco Opera. Before that, he was the financial administrator for the New York City Opera.
