Nation : Senators Ask Extension for Farmers

WASHINGTON —
Eleven senators asked the Farmers Home Administration today to give about 90,000 farmers an extra two weeks to file for restructuring of their debts in an attempt to prevent foreclosures on their farms.
Sen. Howard M. Metzenbaum (D-Ohio), who wrote the group’s letter, said thousands of people face losing their farms and asked the agency to be flexible.
