Tornadoes accompanied by marble-sized hail blew roofs off houses in South Texas and heavy rains flooded streets knee-deep in some towns, but no injuries were reported. The National Weather Service said parts of southeast and south-central Texas got as much as 3 inches of rain, and the Gulf Coast town of Palacios got 2.8 inches within six hours. More than an inch of rain fell in Houston, and flooding was reported in Bay City, 65 miles to the southwest. Showers also doused portions of Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky, and there was scattered rain and drizzle over the southern parts of the Great Lakes and Missouri.
