Coach John MacLeod of the Dallas Mavericks announced that he has taken himself out of the running for the vacant job with the New York Knicks.
MacLeod had been the front-runner to replace Rick Pitino, who left the Knicks to become coach at the University of Kentucky.
The Knicks declined to name other candidates for the job, although Coach Mike Fratello of the Atlanta Hawks, assistant coach Phil Jackson of the Chicago Bulls and assistant coach Brendan Malone of the Detroit Pistons have been mentioned.
