Acar struck a parked construction vehicle Sunday in Van Nuys, killing the car’s driver, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Authorities had not determined the identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at Northridge Hospital Medical Center soon after the 10 a.m. crash, Officer Frank Zdroy said.

The man was driving south on Valjean Avenue when his car strayed from traffic lanes and struck the rear of the unoccupied skip-loader, which was parked on Valjean near Wyandotte Street, Zdroy said. Witnesses told police that the car appeared to be traveling between 30 and 35 m.p.h. when the crash occurred, he said.
