A 34-year old computer engineer who shot his fiancee to death just three months before they were to be married was sentenced in San Fernando Superior Court today to 27 years to life in prison.

Eric Michael Lewis of Canoga Park could be eligible for parole after just 18 years. He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder last month.

Lewis shot Beverly Jordan, 30, twice in the head and twice in the torso with a handgun after house hunting in Chatsworth in November, 1988. The two had been arguing about unpaid bills and his failure to complete arrangements for their honeymoon to Hawaii, officials said.

At Lewis’ sentencing hearing, Jordan’s tearful family members begged the judge to put him in prison for life.
