L.A. Southwest Posts 2-0 Record With 41-0 Flattening of West L.A.
Los Angeles Southwest College rolled over host West Los Angeles College Saturday afternoon, 41-0.
The win brings the Cougars’ record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Northern Division of the Western State Conference. West L.A., which has allowed 69 points already this season, is 0-2 and 0-1 in conference play. The Oilers compete in the Western State Southern Division.
Southwest plays host to L.A. Valley Saturday.
The Cougars broke on top early in the first quarter on a one-yard burst up the middle by running back Jesse Dotson. Quarterback Greg Manigo threw to Joseph Kerney for a two-point conversion.
Kicker Jason Thomson added a field goal later in the first quarter to pad the Cougars’ lead to 11-0. Southwest scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and led 32-0 at halftime.
Manigo completed 12 of 18 passes for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and Damon Whitmore rushed for 84 yards on 17 carries.
In addition, William Jerett rushed for 53 yards and one touchdown; Ansel Littlejohn scored another touchdown and Damon Beckom two.
Chris Mims sacked West L.A. quarterback Kevin McNeil in the third quarter for a safety.
