Showtime Networks Inc.: The pay-television company which has been fighting an uphill battle against industry leader Home Box Office, announced that it has secured non-exclusive rights to about 60 films from Columbia Pictures and Tri-Star Pictures. Showtime said it also secured exclusive rights to movies which will be produced by former MCA and Columbia executive Frank Price and distributed by Tri-Star. Showtime is a subsidiary of Viacom Inc., which recently agreed to sell a 50% interest in the pay-TV company to Tele-Communications Inc.
