Television and Reality
The attacks on TV programming have become so commonplace, you almost have to stand in line to get your idea heard.
The latest tirade is by Mitroff, on the faculty at USC. He is not only opposed to TV, but he also accuses the newspapers and magazines of improper conduct on account of TV.
I’m surprised that Mitroff allowed an article to be printed in the newspaper, which he classes just above the terrible medium TV.
Like all the other critics of TV before him, he offers no alternative to the present programming on TV. Without his saying it, I’m sure his recommendation would include Shakespeare, opera and others cultural subjects.
With all respect, everyone has a right to express his opinion, but not without rebuttal. How would Mitroff know how bad TV is unless he watches a lot?
