FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP : CSUN’s Streak in Volleyball Hits 51 in Row

Alissa Evans, Keira Middleton and Kathleen Dixon each had 10 kills in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s volleyball match Tuesday as Cal State Northridge swept Cal Poly Pomona, 16-14, 15-9, 15-11, and extended its conference home win streak to 51 matches.

Alison Wool had 26 assists and Middleton added 16 digs for Northridge (15-9 overall, 3-3 in conference play), ranked sixth among National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division II teams.

Pomona fell to 10-10, 2-4.

In another women’s volleyball match:

Pierce d. Ventura, 15-1, 15-0, 15-4--Amy Sodek had 21 assists and five of the Brahmas’ 17 aces in a 40-minute Western State Conference match at Ventura.

The sweep lifted Pierce to 12-1 overall, 11-1 in conference play. Ventura dropped to 0-12 in conference.

Girls’ Volleyball

Louisville d. Notre Dame, 15-12, 15-3, 15-9--Mary Hudson had 14 kills to lead Louisville in a San Fernando Valley League match at Notre Dame.

Torie Sumner had 11 kills and Lisa Funari had 32 assists for Louisville (12-1, 7-0), ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section 4-A Division.

L.A. Baptist d. Maranatha, 15-6, 15-8, 15-10--Andrea Lucadam had 23 kills for L. A. Baptist (11-1, 7-0) in an Alpha League match at home.

Monica Davis had 10 kills for L. A. Baptist, ranked No. 6 in 1-A.

Alhambra d. Hart, 10-15, 15-3, 17-15, 15-6--Ina Burke had seven kills for Hart (3-11, 1-6) in a Foothill League match at Hart.

Birmingham d. Monroe, 15-9, 15-3, 15-4--Meredith Lewis and Betty Bhudhikanok each had eight kills and Aimee Sayles had 39 assists to lead the Braves (9-2, 7-0) in a Mid-Valley League match at Monroe.

Chaminade d. St. Genevieve, 15-4, 15-4, 15-8--Pam Powers had 14 kills, Noel Nonaka had four kills and Nadine Nonaka added four aces for the Eagles (7-6, 4-3) in a San Fernando Valley League match at Chaminade.

Sylmar d. Poly, 13-15, 15-12, 15-6, 15-4--Carie Fuller had 14 kills and Griselda Vasquez had six kills, 11 assists and five digs to lift Sylmar (8-3, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Poly.

Village Christian d. Marshall, 15-3, 15-1, 15-1--Jennifer Kossuth and Julie Harvey combined for 11 kills to pace the Crusaders in an Alpha League match at Village Christian.

Village Christian improved to 10-3, 6-2 in league play. Marshall dropped to 0-8 in league play.

Water Polo

Harvard 12, Servite 3--Harvard remained unbeaten in Del Rey League play with a lopsided win at Harvard.

Dan Moran and Brian Border each scored three goals for Harvard (21-4, 9-0), ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section 3-A Division. Goalie Antonio Gomez had 13 saves for the Saracens.

Crespi 13, St. John Bosco 5--Rusty King scored six goals and Jean Michele added three for the Celts (13-6, 6-3) in a Del Rey League match at St. John Bosco.
