Auto Makers to Idle Plants: The nation’s Big Three auto makers said 20,300 workers will be temporarily laid off next week in new and extended production shutdowns because of sagging vehicle demand. The closings include Ford Motor’s Dearborn, Mich., assembly plant, which makes Mustang cars.
