N. J. Inmate Killed in Rampage at Jail

JERSEY CITY, N. J. —
Inmates in the overcrowded Hudson County Jail, apparently enraged by a false rumor, went on a series of rampages in which one inmate was killed, authorities said Thursday.
County spokeswoman Lori Rankin said that one inmate was shot by a guard during the three-hour incident. Six guards suffered minor injuries in trying to quell the uprising.
