Proposal Would Bill Hosts for Cost of Noisy Parties
A Los Angeles City Council panel endorsed a proposed ordinance Monday that would allow police to recover the costs of quelling noisy parties by billing the hosts.
The ordinance, approved unanimously by the Public Safety Committee, would require the hosts to pay police costs into the thousands of dollars for two or more visits to quiet down unruly celebrants.
Los Angeles Police Cmdr. Larry Fetters said that under the ordinance--which will now be considered by the full council--party hosts would be handed a written warning during the first police visit, advising them that a second encounter with authorities could result in fines.
