Man Gunned Down on Blythe Street
A man believed to be in early 20s was shot to death on Blythe Street in Panorama City late Sunday afternoon, possibly by a passing car, police said.
The man had not been identified Sunday night and no arrests had been made, police said. Homicide detectives had not determined a motive for the 4 p.m. shooting and were interviewing residents in nearby apartment complexes who reported hearing gunshots and called police.
“Neighbors heard several gunshots, looked out the window and saw a man stagger a few steps and fall down,” said Lt. Warren Knowles. “Exactly what happened has not yet been determined.”
The shooting occurred near Blythe Street and Kester Avenue, a neighborhood notorious for drug dealing and gang troubles.
