Five victims assaulted in New York City’s Central Park within minutes of the gang rape of a woman jogger testified about their terror and outrage during attacks by the marauding pack of youths. “I was terrified. I thought I was going to die,” said Robert Garner, 30, of London, who was forced off a running path and beaten by about 20 black and Latino teen-agers April 19, 1989. Nine victims were attacked in the moonlit park. The woman was dragged off another path, beaten, raped and left for dead. Three youths are on trial in state court in Manhattan.
