‘LOVE STREAMS’

This 1984 John Cassavetes film--sadly his last--is emotional, irritating, sad, hilarious, forceful and horrifying. And it is exquisitly played by Cassavetes and his wife, Gena Rowlands (both pictured above), as a brother and sister who are each other’s only safe harbors. “Love Streams” strikes notes, not all of them pleasant, that give back the pure ring of emotional truth.
