Air Force Chief Fired for Remarks on Iraq Strikes
The firing of Dugan demonstrates that people in the military service are not necessarily the brightest and that the civilized world and our Judeo-Christian ethics teach us as one of the 10 Commandments “Thou shall not kill.” In the last 2,000 years the inhabitants of this planet should have learned that violence is a very poor way to settle problems.
It is encouraging that our President and the United Nations are making every effort to settle this dispute without bloodshed.
My first impulse, especially as a Jew, might be to drop a bomb on Saddam Hussein. History teaches us, however, that war does not accomplish anything. There is much we can do so that such a situation as the invasion of Kuwait will never happen again. It should not be necessary to kill millions of human beings.
