Assigning Blame on Budget Mess
It was interesting listening to President Bush and Vice President Quayle blame the budget crisis on the Democrats. Of course, both of them said that the problem could easily be solved by giving the President the authority for a line-item veto. This has been a constant cry of Republicans--when there is a Republican President! You certainly didn’t hear Rep. Bush calling for presidential line-item veto authority when President Carter was in office.
