MISSION VIEJO : Flag Essay Contest Open to 6th-Graders
Sixth-grade students in the Saddleback school system have been invited to compete for prizes in an essay contest titled “Why We Should Honor Our Flag.”
The contest is part of the California/Hawaii Elks Essay contest, which will see students from both states compete for local and state prizes, according to Joe Urban, an Elks spokesman.
The Mission Viejo-Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge will award $75, $50 and $25 prizes to the top three boys’ essays and the top three girls’ essays.
Entry forms are available from Dale Smith at the Mission Viejo Elks, 25092 Marquerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, 92692. The deadline to enter the contest is Nov. 30.
