The beat of Latino music is being heard more often these days at the Los Angeles Sports Arena with concerts featuring performers from Los Bukis to Vicente Fernandez. Instrumental in booking the acts has been George Gonzalez, 30. Hired as a night watchman 12 years ago while attending USC, the native New Yorker of Cuban descent recently was named general manager of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum complex, which includes the Sports Arena. In addition to the Latino entertainers, Gonzalez said, “We’re trying to make the building a lot friendlier to Spanish speakers” by hiring bilingual staff and offering event information in Spanish.
