ORANGE : Candidates Plan to Attend 2 Forums

City Council and mayoral candidates will discuss issues and field questions from the public at two forums set for this week at Chapman College and the Orange Senior Citizens Community Center.

The five mayoral candidates are: E. William Berke, financial consultant; incumbent City Councilman Gene Beyer, a retired principal; Robert A. Boice, a businessman and founder of the Old Towne Preservation Assn.; Marshall F. Norris, a retired Orange County clerk and former lieutenant in the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and Juan Pablo Serrano-Nieblas, an environmental engineer for UCI Medical Center.

Running for City Council are: incumbent Joanne Coontz, the first woman elected to the Orange City Council; incumbent William Steiner, executive director of Orangewood Children’s Foundation, and Don Greek, a civil engineer and former planning commissioner.

The event, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 7 p.m. tonight in the Hashinger Lecture Hall at Chapman College, 333 N. Glassell St. The forum will also be carried live by Cablevision of Orange, Channel 17.

Each candidate will have three minutes to make introductory remarks and one minute to respond to each question from the audience.
