Cooper Industries Inc.: The firm reported third-quarter net income of $92.7 million, up 36% from the year-ago quarter. Revenue was $1.5 billion, up 15%. The company attributed the higher earnings mainly to a stronger oil and gas market. Houston-based Cooper is a diversified maker of petroleum and industrial equipment, electrical and automotive products, tools and hardware.
