DISAPPEARING DOCTOR
As millions of working Americans remain uninsured, the rest of us are herded into HMOs. In my family’s case, the last straw was a $7,000 bill for a child’s tonsillectomy.
I sympathize with Allina. We very reluctantly left behind some excellent and caring physicians. Now a visit to the local HMO is about as personal as a trip to Fedco. Is this the future of American medicine?
