Conducting Himself Nicely: While Kissinger was fulfilling his dream of being a weatherman, Walter Cronkite also realized a dream of his own this week. He conducted the New York Pops symphony orchestra Monday night in Carnegie Hall. The former CBS anchorman wielded a vigorous baton and encouraged the audience to clap in rhythm to “Radetzky March” by Johann Strauss Sr. Cronkite thanked Pops director Skitch Henderson for the opportunity of “doing something I’ve wanted to do for a long time--and in this great hall in its centennial year.”
