Cal State Dominguez Hills

* Cal State Dominguez Hills conferred bachelor’s degrees on 2,550 graduates Friday with Maureen DiMarco, California secretary of child development, delivering the keynote address. An honorary degree was awarded to Walter J. Turnbull, founder and director of the Boys Choir of Harlem.

Cal State Northridge

* Cal State Northridge held the first of eight commencement ceremonies for the School of Education on Friday, conferring degrees on 310 graduates. Elizabeth Brady (Carleton College, 1941), an educational psychology professor at the school, delivered the keynote address. Also Friday morning, the School of Social and Behavioral Science featured CSUN psychology Prof. Patricia Keith-Spiegel (Occidental College, 1961) as its keynote speaker. Degrees were conferred on 1,063 graduates. The School of Science and Mathematics featured Anthony V. Anderson, (CSUN, 1983) founding director of Minority Achievers in Science Program at CSUN, as its keynote speaker Friday. Degrees were conferred on 339 graduates.

University of Redlands

* University of Redlands held three commencement ceremonies Saturday. At the College of Arts and Science, 274 degrees were conferred. Janet Shikles (Redlands, 1964), associate director of the Federal General Accounting Office in Washington delivered the keynote address. The Alfred North Whitehead Center conferred 482 degrees with Hugh O. La Bounty (Redlands, 1950), president of Cal Poly Pomona, delivering the keynote address. Judith Tschann, a professor at the school’s Johnston Center, delivered the keynote address. Degrees were conferred on 35 graduates.

California Baptist College

* California Baptist College held its 38th commencement honoring 104 graduates Saturday. Jess Moody (Baylor University, 1950), pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Church in Chatsworth, delivered the keynote address. Honorary degrees were awarded to Sam Williams, pastor at Del Cerro Baptist Church and Dan Moon of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

University of La Verne

* University of La Verne conferred degrees on 1,999 graduates at its 99th commencement Sunday. Herbert Hogan (La Verne, 1944), professor of history at the school, delivered the keynote address. Honorary degrees were awarded to Hogan and to Owen H. Lewis, a trustee at La Verne.

Whittier College

* Whittier College held its 88th annual commencement Sunday with 330 graduates receiving degrees. Martin E. Marty (Ph.D., University of Chicago, 1956), professor of history at the University of Chicago, delivered the commencement address. Honorary degrees were awarded to Marty and to Paul C.W. Chu, director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston.

California Lutheran University

* California Lutheran University honored 634 graduates Sunday at its 28th commencement. John Slaughter, (Kansas State, 1956), president of Occidental College, delivered the commencement address. Honorary degrees were awarded to Slaughter and to John Newman, president and chief executive officer of CBS/Sony California Inc. Rene Fitzpatrick, a biology and premed major from Thousand Oaks was the class valedictorian.

Loma Linda University School of Medicine

* Loma Linda University School of Medicine awarded 143 doctor of medicine and two bachelor of science degrees at its 86th commencement Sunday. C. Everett Koop (Cornell Medical College, 1941), former U.S. surgeon general, delivered the commencement address.

Looking Ahead

* Cal State Northridge will hold its remaining commencements on campus today and Wednesday with ceremonies for the following schools at these times: Engineering and Computer Science, 8:30 a.m. today; School of the Arts, 10:30 a.m. today; School of Humanities, 4 p.m. today; School of Business Administration and Economics, 9 a.m. Wednesday; and the School of Communication, Health and Human Services at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Ceremonies are open to the public

* Cal State Long Beach will hold its 42nd commencement on campus over a three-day period begining Wednesday. Here are the times and locations for the following schools: Humanities, 9 a.m. Wednesday; Engineering, 1 p.m. Wednesday; Applied Arts, 5 p.m. Wednesday; Business Administration, 9 a.m. Thursday; Social and Behavioral Sciences, 1 p.m., Thursday; Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration, 4 p.m. Thursday; Fine Arts, 9 a.m. Friday; Natural Sciences, 1 p.m. Friday; and the Graduate School of Education at 5 p.m. Friday. Ceremonies are open to the public.

* Biola University will hold its 81st commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday, on campus. Gordon E. Kirk, senior pastor at the Rolling Hills Covenant Church, will deliver the keynote address. Ceremonies are open to the public.

* West Coast University will hold its commencement ceremonies at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Wilshire-Ebell Theater. Peter S. Watson, director of Asian affairs for the National Security Council will deliver the keynote address. Ceremonies are open to the public.
