Man Pleads Guilty to Molesting Girl, 8
A 27-year-old Sylmar man pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting an 8-year-old girl.
Martin Hernandez entered the plea in San Fernando Municipal Court and is expected to be sentenced in July, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Craig Richman.
The molestations occurred last December and January while Hernandez was living in the same house with the child and several other people, Richman said. On one occasion, occupants in the house witnessed him molesting the child and notified authorities.
Initially, Hernandez was charged with three counts of molestation, but two of the charges were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
Prosecutors will ask the judge to sentence Hernandez to three years in state prison.
