COLUMBUS, Ind. —
A plant opening early next year will produce the engines for Dodge Ram pickup trucks through at least 1997, Cummins Engine Co. said.
Cummins and Chrysler Corp. announced that Cummins’ B Series 5.9-litre engine will power the Dodge Ram trucks and a new generation of Chrysler trucks to be introduced in 1994.
Cummins produces the B Series engines at seven sites around the world.
North American production capacity is being expanded with the scheduled early 1992 start-up of the plant in Walesboro, south of Cummins’ headquarters in Columbus.
The B Series engine will be made at the Walesboro plant, which eventually will produce all of the diesel engines used in Chrysler trucks.
