Litton Plans to Reduce Work Force by Up to 200

Share

Litton Industries Inc. said it plans to cut up to 200 jobs at its Guidance & Control Systems division during the next year.

Between 100 and 150 jobs will be cut at the division’s Woodland Hills headquarters, which has 2,300 workers, and the remaining 50 are expected to be cut at the division’s facility in Grants Pass, Ore., which employs 390 people.

The reductions are expected to come through layoffs, retirement and attrition, said Robert Knapp, spokesman for Beverly Hills-based Litton.

Knapp said the cuts are necessary because of reduced defense spending and to better compete for programs such as the advanced tactical fighter and the Strategic Defense Initiative. The Guidance & Control division makes navigational equipment for aircraft.
