WORLD IN BRIEF : CUBA : Mandela Arrives to Warm Welcome

South African anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela began a three-day tour of Cuba with a warm personal welcome from President Fidel Castro. It was the first meeting between the African National Congress president and the veteran Cuban leader, who has been a staunch supporter of the ANC’s fight for a non-racial, democratic South Africa. Mandela is on a two-week tour of the Caribbean and Latin America.
