Two Men Die in Separate Traffic Accidents
A Covina man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 near Del Mar and a Warner Springs man died after a one-car wreck on a rural North County road in separate traffic accidents before dawn Saturday, California Highway Patrol officers said.
Dennis Woodward, 35, of Covina, was hit from behind while riding his motorcycle at 5:50 a.m. on southbound I-5, about a half mile south of Del Mar Heights Road, officers said. The crash threw him off the bike, and he was run over several times, officers said.
The car that hit Woodward, officers believe, is a mid-size, reddish-brown sedan.
Sherman C. Loudermilk, 37, of Warner Springs, was killed at 2:30 a.m. after he lost control of his car and it overturned off Vesper Road, west of Mac Tan Road, near Valley Center, officers said. The car hit a fence, a tree and another fence before coming to rest on its top, officers said.
