WESTMINSTER : Auto Wrecking Yard Fire Damages 7 Cars
A welding torch, fueled by vapors, triggered a fire that charred seven cars at an auto wrecking yard Thursday, fire officials said.
Just before 12:45 p.m., employees at the Goldenwest Auto Wrecking, at 6972 Garden Grove Blvd., were welding auto parts in the back of the lot, Capt. Craig Campbell said. A fuel line from one of the cars had been cut and its vapors apparently strengthened the torch’s flame, causing a flash fire that engulfed all seven cars in the area, Campbell said.
