Baughman suggests the book “Progressive Wine Making” by Peter Duncan and Bryan Acton published by Standard Press--although “it may be overdone for someone who flunked chemistry,” he says.

“The Art of Making Wine” by Stanley F. Anderson and Raymond Hull, published by Hawthorne Books, is less technical and “unless you’re really serious, it will get you through,” Baughman said.

Locally, Beer and Wine Crafts, 460 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon, offers a full line of supplies including canned concentrates, additives and wine-related gift ware. Orders are taken for grapes. A crusher and press are available for use.
