OXNARD : Bank Robbery Tied to Other Holdups

Share

An Oxnard bank was robbed Friday morning by a man matching the description of the robber of several other banks in the area, authorities said.

The unidentified man walked into the Bank of A. Levy at 143 West 5th St. shortly after 10 a.m. and handed a bank teller a note demanding money, Oxnard Police Sgt. Chuck Hookstra said. Although the note warned that he was armed, the man did not reveal a gun, Hookstra said.

The robber, who fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money, is a Latino male in his mid-30s, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds, authorities said. He is suspected of robbing several other Oxnard banks in the last two months, said FBI supervisor Gary Auer.

In Friday’s robbery, the man wore a dark blue waist-length jacket, dark trousers and dark shoes. He was cleanshaven and his hair was combed straight back, Auer said.
