An 18-year-old San Diego man died early Saturday of a bullet wound sustained in an apparently gang-related confrontation Friday.

Albert Abram, Jr., who lived in the 4900 block of Imperial Ave., died at Mercy Hospital nearly a day after he was shot at a mini-market in the 1800 block of Euclid Avenue, authorities said.

According to police, Abram and two friends pulled into the market to buy gas shortly after 3 a.m. Friday. Three men standing at a dark brown or gold Cadillac parked at the pumps issued “gang comments” to the trio, but they did not respond, police said.

But when Abram went outside to confront the men, several shots were fired. One bullet hit Abram.

His companions took Abram to his uncle’s home and then to Paradise Valley Hospital in National City. Paramedics transferred Abram to Mercy, where he died at 1 a.m. Saturday.

San Diego gang and homicide detectives are investigating.
