Maywood : Recount Alters Vote Totals Slightly, but Not the Results

Share

A six-hour recount of 1,400 ballots last week at Maywood City Hall did not change the results of the April 14 election, in which Dorothy Ramirez and incumbents Henry Santiago Jr. and William Hamilton were elected.

The losers in the election demanded a hand count of the ballots, charging that an electronic ballot counting machine malfunctioned on the night of the election, perhaps affecting the outcome of the close race. Just 12 votes separated the third- and fourth-place vote-getters.

In the final recount, Ramirez and Hamilton each gained one vote, and candidate Nicolas Rosilies added two to his final tally.
