Platinum Holdings Corp., an owner of accounting software businesses, said Tuesday that it has acquired an Oregon manufacturing software company for an undisclosed price.

Gerald Blackie, chief executive of Platinum Holdings, said the new acquisition, Metatron Corp., will remain in Beaverton, Ore., but will be renamed Platinum Manufacturing Inc.

“We view this as a broadening of our product line so that we can offer a more complete solution,” Blackie said.

Metatron, which has 10 employees, makes software used to control manufacturing plant operations, such as scheduling and data collection. Platinum’s Advance Business Microsystems Inc. unit makes accounting software.

Blackie said that Platinum, which is privately held, had sales of $20 million in 1991. He estimated that Metatron will add about $2 million to total revenue during the first year after the acquisition.

Platinum Holdings was formed in 1984. In 1989, it acquired Platinum Management Systems Inc. of Badham, Mass. With the addition of the Oregon unit, the company will have about 150 employees, Blackie said.
