BUENA PARK : City Begins Summer Tourism Program

Share

The summer tourist season has opened with a renewed effort to attract and keep tourist dollars in the city.

For the second year, the city, along with several businesses, has committed $78,000 to a beautification project along its “entertainment corridor” on Beach Boulevard, from Knott’s Berry Farm north to the Artesia Freeway. Banners have been hung along the street for a quarter of a mile touting the project’s slogan, “Stay ‘n’ Play in Buena Park.”

Free shuttle bus service will take residents and tourists alike from hotels and shopping areas to attractions including Knott’s, the Movieland Wax Museum, Wild Bill’s Western Extravaganza, Medieval Times and Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

“We’ll take them to all the attractions in Buena Park, plus Disneyland,” said Jerry LaPointe of the Buena Park Convention and Visitors Office.

Funds from the Redevelopment Agency and the private sector went into the beautification of the corridor, LaPointe said.
