WESTMINSTER : Dog Owners Face Fines for Droppings

Share

Under a resolution passed Tuesday night, dog owners will face fines if they fail to clean up after their pets.

Enforcing the ordinance requires catching the dog in the act on public or unauthorized private property and subsequent failure by the owner or custodian of the dog to remove its feces.

“Every city has this problem,” said Susan Jenulis, senior animal control officer for the city. “We do get complaints from residents who go out for their morning paper and find something else on their front yards.”

The fine is $20 for the first violation, $30 for the second and $50 for each violation thereafter during the life of the dog.
